Oyakhilomes divorce splits Christ Embassy members

Looks like members of Chris Oyakhilome's
Christ Embassy church are divided over his
split from his wife Anita who filed for
divorce a few months ago on the grounds
of 'unreasonable behaviour' and 'adultery'.
On a Facebook page called 'Where is Rev.
Anita Oyakhilome,’ some members are
putting their pastors and church on blast...
Yesterday, one member wrote
"I am a Christ Embassy member. I hate one
thing there: How can a pastor be working
together with a lady hand in hand,
attending meetings and lodging in a hotel
for days. My girlfriend travels with our
branch pastor annually for PPCF which
holds in Lagos. Only God knows.”
Continue...
Another one wrote;
"Pastor Chris Oyakhilome must have been
discovered compromising his marital bed
business. It is what it is. God says
judgement will start from His house. ‘Touch
not my anointed’ is God’s instruction
regarding all His children, not an individual
nicking, scheming, threatening monies off
people’s purses and telling them that
salvation is tied to tithes and that seed
sowing is only money donation to the
church/pastor’s coffers. One down, more to
roll. Christ be praised.”
Another member of the page wrote
" I and my family left Christ Embassy for
our own good after worshiping there for
three years plus and seeing all the things
going on under the disguise of church. And I
can comfortably say that for over a year
now, we have had so much peace in our
Christian lives. I don’t care how you view
my comment but truth must be told.”
Joseph Osagiede, however, responded
saying the Oyakhilomes were still together.
He said,
“I have been in Christ Embassy for 12
years. All is totally well with thier marriage.
All those wishing them to split and also
those going about saying nasty things about
the church, be careful.” Faith Ebunoluwa
Adetayo also said, “I have been in Christ
Embassy since 1990s and I can
authoritatively say some things: I have seen
the power of God work, demonstrated in
healings and many other things. I have seen
how that Pastor Chris is less concerned
about mistakes we make. “He believes that
these sins of the flesh will disappear, only if
we listen to the word of God. Rather than
condemning us, he speaks words of
encouragement. And for your information,
Pastor Anita is still very much in the
ministry and she’s with her darling
husband.”
Meanwhile, the Christ Embassy has kept
mum on the divorce case.
A woman, who picked Punch’s call to the
Nigerian office of the church on Saturday,
said she had no information to give on the
matter. When asked to confirm if the
divorce suit was true or not, she simply
said, “I have no information to give on the
matter.”
When another call was made to the church
thorough another number, the respondent,
who identified herself as Pastor Christabel,
said the church had no information about
the case. “No, we have no information on
the matter,” she said.

Boko Haram funded through CBN- Australian Hostage negotiator says

It appears Australian hostage negotiator
Dennis Stephen isn't done making
outrageous and some would say 'eye-
opening' claims. Just a day after he claimed
that former Borno state Gov, Alimodu
Sheriff and an unnamed retired army chief
are sponsors of Boko Haram, he's now
claiming that the insurgent group if funded
through the CBN. In an interview with
TheCable , Stephen claimed a senior official
of the CBN handles the financial
transactions of the sect group. What he said
below...
"One of the biggest of suppliers of arms
and military uniforms to the JAS (Jama’atu
Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad, better
known as Boko Haram) currently lives in
Cairo, Egypt. He is the recipient of money
sent by political sponsors from Nigeria. The
funds go through the CBN’s financial system
and appear to be a legal transaction.
Meanwhile, the CBN official who handles
the funding is an uncle to three of those
arrested in connection with the Nyanya
bombings. The three boys lived with him.
They were arrested by the SSS (Department
of State Security) after the bombings but
they do not seem to have been
interrogated about their uncle in CBN. Or if
they have given up information about their
uncle then the SSS has not moved against
him." Stephen said Continue...
"Also, a senior official of CBN, who recently
left the bank, was very close to Sodiq Aminu
Ogwuche, the mastermind of the Nyanya
bombings who also schooled in Sudan. Boko
haram commanders said Ogwuche’s wife
used to visit this top official in his office at
the headquarters of the bank in Abuja
before the Nyanya bombings. They were
very close,” Davis said. He said he is
speaking out now because he feels the
Federal government is doing little in the
rescue of the missing Chibok girls "I have
three daughters. I just cannot stand the
thought of what those girls are passing
through. I have spoken to an escapee who
described how she was being raped for 40
days by militants. I can’t stand it. It is
heart-breaking. Nigerian authorities must
act decisively now,” he said

2015: The Race for Presidency is Getting Hotter

The presidential elections
scheduled for February 14
, 2015, are slowly approaching with
no aspirant officially declaring his
interest. However, this does not
mean that the race for a place at
the Aso Rock has not started yet,
as endorsements are already
rolling in for potential candidates.
Hytecblog would like to recall some of
them for top 5 potential participants:

None of the potential candidates
declared for the ticket so far.
1. Goodluck Jonathan
The number of pro-presidential
groups grows
day by day. The current leader of the
nation was endorsed by South South
group ‘De Servants for Jonathan’,
while Transformation Ambassadors of
Nigeria (TAN) vowed to mobilise 3
million of its members
to actualise Jonathan’s re-election
bid.
2. Atiku Abubakar
The former vice president (1999 –
2007) has been recently endorsed by
South South Youth Forum for Atiku.
The group is convinced that Alhaji
Atiku Abubakar fits all the
requirements for the leader of
Nigeria, stands out from other
candidates “based on his
experience and wide network,
major criteria that will better the
lots of Nigerians.”
The veteran politician believes he has
lots to offer for Nigeria. He has
embarked on a ‘peace tour’ across
the country
to prove this point.
3. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso
The Governor of Kano State was
endorsed for the race a couple of
days ago by 34 members of state’s
House of Assembly. The decision was
made because the assemblymen see
him as a “resolute, competent and
detribalized leader” who can deal
“with the prevailing security challenge
and other socio-political problems”.
4. Muhammadu Buhari
The former military head of state
is deemed as a great candidate
too. According to a poll conducted
about 4 months ago by the
movement ‘For The Future Nigeria’
Nigerians would be satisfied if the All
Progressives Congress issues a ticket
for Buhari and Governor Fashola
. The chances of ex general have also
increased in the light of terrorist
attack on his convoy in Kaduna
on July 23, and Buhari’s miraculous
survival, without a single scratch.
5. Bukola Saraki
The senator, who represents Kwara
central senatorial district, said he
would announce his intention to
compete
“at the right time”. Another
prominent APC member sees party’s
victory in Osun State as a good sign
and a first step for defeating the
Peoples Democratic Party in 2015.
It would be noted that the office of
the Governor of Rivers State,
Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, keeps
silent on Amaechi’s plans, but the
power, influence and charisma of the
governor should not be
underestimated as well.

FG Assures Of Stable Power Supply By October 2014

The Federal Government of Nigeria
made a highly-controversial
statement on August 29, 2014,
Friday, promising to ensure stable
power supply by October 2014.
This has been contained in the
statement by the Minister of Power
Prof Chinedu Nebo, who declared at
the State House, Abuja, while briefing
the newsmen upon the termination
of a meeting hosted by Vice
President Namadi Sambo.
The minister attributed the
improvement to the fact of improved
gas supply for Nigeria. He explained
that repair and maintenance works at
major facilities were coming to an
end.
Prof Nebo also informed that the FG
was doing its best to ensure that the
bills of power generating companies
were paid promptly.
“We hope that by the beginning of
October, we will see a much better
stabilisation of the entire power
delivery system in the country.”
The Minister of Power informed that
the power generation had been
averaging over 4,500MW. Extra
reliability and stability are expected
when about 300MW of spilling is
included.
In April 2014 this parameter
exceeded 4,100MW .
“We are advancing, we are making
progress and we will continue to
make progress,” the minister
concluded.
However, this declaration triggered
mixed reactions.
“Promises, promises, lies and more
lies… What do we believe?” a
former FCT Minister, Nasir El-Rufai,
wondered in his post on Facebook.

How I survived Ebola – Late nurse' fiance, Dennis Akagha speaks

Dennis Akagha, the fiance of Justina
Ejelonu, the First Consultant Hospital nurse
who died after being infected with the
deadly Ebola virus by Liberian Patrick
Sawyer, in this exclusive interview with
Vanguard spoke about how his late fiancee
contracted the deadly disease, how she lost
their unborn child while battling with Ebola,
and also revealed that Justina had just
landed the job at the hospital and met
Sawyer on her first day there. He also spoke
on how he got infected with the virus and
how he finally got discharged. Find the in-
depth interview below....

On his relationship with the late Justina,
Dennis said;
"The  truth is that Justina and I were not
legally married, we were planning for our
traditional marriage in October and she just
got this job. She was a qualified graduate
nurse and got the job at the First
Consultant Hospital in Lagos. She resumed
duty at the hospital on the 21st of July,
while Patrick Sawyer was admitted at the
hospital on the 20th. He was her first
patient. She was one of the nurses that
nursed him. She was pregnant and so her
immune system was weak, which made it
easy for her to contract the disease. On
that first day which was a Monday, she was
having some pregnancy symptoms, but I
just encouraged her to go because it was
her first day at work. Sawyer was her first
patient. The next day, Tuesday, she didn’t
work on Sawyer. Wednesday and Thursday,
she was off. Then on Friday, Patrick Sawyer
died. They didn’t know he had Ebola, it was
three days later that they realized it was
Ebola" he said
On how he found out she had contracted
the deadly virus, he said
"It was after Sawyer died that she told me
she nursed him but that she was on gloves.
She even thanked God that she didn’t have
direct contact with him. The fever continued
and we thought it was just pregnancy
symptoms and even when she went to her
hospital, they confirmed the same thing.
She took drugs and ran tests, yet it
persisted. At night, she was usually cold and
feverish and her body temperature was
usually very high. At a point, I began to
suspect that she had contacted the virus. I
did some research on the disease and
realised that she was having similar
symptoms. On the 14th of August, it
became serious, she started stooling and
vomiting. I had to clean up everything. All
of a sudden, she started bleeding and she
started crying that she had lost the
pregnancy. I had to call her relatives and
other people. The bleeding persisted and I
had to clean up everything. Initially I was
not wearing gloves because I felt I had
already been exposed to the virus. But later
I cautioned myself and started wearing
nylon on my hands. But I couldn’t stay away
from her. I kept consoling her. Even when I
took her to the hospital, she wanted to
hold me and I told her to also consider my
safety. She managed to hold herself and
was able to find her way out in a pool of
her blood. We chartered a taxi to the
hospital, but first, I took her to First
Consultant Hospital because I felt they
should know more. When we got there, I
was directed to IGH, Yaba. I told the taxi
driver to take us there. The driver wasn’t
even aware of what was going on as he took
us to Yaba. Justina was on the floor for 30
minutes before she was attended to. She
was screaming that she was going to die.
She was seriously bleeding, she had to
come out of the taxi and lay on the floor. I
ran around, trying to get doctors to attend
to her. After everything, they took her in,
took her blood samples and the following
day, the result came out that it was Ebola.
They washed the taxi with chlorine and also
bathed the taxi driver and I with chlorine
spray. At that point, the taxi driver knew
what was going on, he couldn’t even take
me home because he was so scared. I had
to look for somewhere to pass the night in
the hospital. Early the next morning, I left
the Hospital. The taxi driver is alive today,
nothing happened to him. We have been
checking on him and the last time we spoke
he told me, he was fine" he said.
On what happened after he was exposed to
the virus, Dennis said;
"14 days after I was exposed to Ebola, my
temperature rose from the usual 35.2
degrees centigrade to 37.2. The Lagos State
government gave me a thermometer the
day I dropped Justina off at the centre. It
took them two straight weeks to visit my
home and to disinfect it. Before they came,
I had already done the much I could do. I
used bleach and detergent to clean the
whole house, furniture and clothes
inclusive. We should be reminded and
educated that a healthy person with Ebola
virus cannot get anybody infected, except if
the person is sick and totally down with the
virus like what happened to Sawyer and to
my late wife-to-be, Justina. I contacted the
virus because Justina was very sick and I
was taking care of her without any
appropriate protection. When we knew what
we were dealing with it was almost too late
for me as I had already contacted the
virus" he said.
On what was done for him after his visit to
the Isolation centre, Dennis said
"The Lagos State government sent health
professionals to check on me regularly to
know how l was doing or if l had the signs
of the virus manifesting. So they used to
come around to check on me. At some
point they created scenes with their visits. I
was embarrassed and I was stigmatized. I
complained severely to them that I didn’t
like what they were doing. Then, one
Saturday they visited again, I complained
about the pains I was beginning to
experience; excruciating pains around my
waist. I started praying and asking people
to pray for me. Before this time, I believed
in the Holy Communion, so I usually take it
daily and do feet washing. I was going to
the hospital daily to see late Justina.
Initially, I was seeing her through the
window and she would say I should take
her out of the hospital. She complained of
lack of care. Perhaps, Justina would have
survived the virus, if not for the state she
was in. Her immune system was down
because she was pregnant. Along the line,
she had a miscarriage and lost the baby
due to the Ebola virus disease. The doctors,
who were supposed to do an evacuation on
her couldn’t do it because they claimed that
an evacuation was too risky as she was
heavily infected and may pass on the virus
to another person. Since nothing was done
even after the bleeding had stopped, it led
to more complications for her because the
already dead foetus somehow got rotten in
the womb and started a damaging process
which led to further complication.
Meanwhile, she was still stooling and
vomiting and since nobody could dare to
touch her, she was left on top of her
excretions even when she couldn’t do much
for herself due to her weak state. She was
given her incisions and other drugs. I
believe if some people survived Justina
should have been one of them. At a point, I
wished I was a doctor myself; I would have
taken the risk of doing the evacuation
because it really affected her".
On the last day he say his late fiancee,
Dennis said
"The last day I saw her, I had to go inside
the ward because she was so unkempt as
nobody attended to her. At that time, the
quarantined patients were in the former
facility where there was no water and she
had messed up herself again. I had to look
for water to clean her up, change her
pampers and arrange her bedding. Since I
was aware of what I was dealing with, I got
myself protected while cleaning up the
place. I made sure she looked better than
when I saw her. Justina was shivering the
last day I saw her, one side of her stomach
was already swollen, and her legs were also
swollen. I prayed for her.At a point, she
needed oxygen and the hospital couldn’t
provide it. Her friends had to provide it.
That was the last day I saw her. On Sunday
Morning, I called her line like I usually did
before visiting her, but she didn’t pick her
calls. When I got to the hospital, I was told
that she was dead".
Asked if late Justina was taking his calls
while she was at the Isolation center,
Dennis said;
"Yes, in fact she called me that last day and
I knew she was going to give up, because
she was saying some funny things. She said
I should tell my people to go and meet her
father so as to finalize our marriage plans,
that she’s leaving that place.
Asked if he was not scared that he would
die form the illness seeing that his Fiancees
health was deteriorating, Dennis said;
"I personally don’t believe in taking
medications. I had the mentality that I
wasn’t sick. I told the government what I
was experiencing. On the day they came to
pick me up for treatment, all of a sudden,
my temperature went back to normal. The
shivering and pains were all gone. So they
decided that they would be checking on me.
But it got to a point people stopped selling
things to me. It was as if the government
got a report that I shouldn’t be around. So,
they came and said I should go with them
that they wanted to take my blood sample.
I went with them and they took my blood
sample, I was kept in a ward known as the
‘suspected ward. The result came out and it
was positive. I was then taken to a confined
ward. One of the doctors from UNICEF, a
white lady told me that they were having
issues with the results and that they would
have to re-run the tests. They did the tests
again and it was still positive. I told them
that it wasn’t my result and that I was
healthy. I was even doing my usual
exercises (press-ups) every morning. I kept
telling them that I wasn’t sick. They took my
blood sample the third time. That night,
they told me that I tested negative in the
last result and that I don’t have any reason
to remain there. That was how I was
discharged" he said
Speaking on what was hapening to his job
as he was under isolation, Dennis said;
"I was a marketer in an oil and gas
company. I worked on commission basis,
but at a point, I realized that people were
not calling me and when I called they won’t
pick my calls. Even the person that I report
directly refused to pick my calls and also
refused to associate with me. Justina and I
just got our jobs, she got hers at First
Consultant Hospital and I got mine as a
marketer with the oil and gas company.
On whether the government or First
Consultant Hospital owes late Justina's
family some form of compensations, Dennis
said;
"Although, no amount of money they give to
the family will bring her back I think the
government owes Justina’s family a lot
because she died trying to save a situation.
Justina died in active service as her death
wasn’t natural".
On how his status changed from postive to
negative, Dennis said
"I was reading a book on healing and taking
of the Holy Communion. So I learnt to take
Holy Communion morning, afternoon and
night. I also engaged myself in feet-washing
every day before going to bed. The Almighty
God saved me; the Holy Spirit healed me. It
wasn’t as though l didn’t fall sick as l had
direct contact with Justina but the Almighty
God healed me. When I was discharged, I
got to my house on Saturday evening and
spent two hours the next day, Sunday,
thanking God on my own. I didn’t go to
church or anywhere because of the already
established stigma but today I can
confidently attend church activities because
I guess they all know I’m free now. I know
my faith and belief healed me. God also
worked for me apart from the fact that my
immune system is also working. I believe I
got healed also because friends prayed for
me" he said.

Nigerians Furious Over MasterCard’s Logo On National ID Cards

The yesterday’s launch of the new
Nigerian National Identity Cards
containing the branded logo of the
American firm MasterCard ignited
hot discussions and rage with
people across the country
demanding for cards withdrawal.
On Thursday, August 29, President
Goodluck Jonathan received his eID
card, similar ones that will be issued
to more than 13 million Nigerians
and after the completion of the pilot
program – to more than 100 million.
However the country citizens got
infuriated over the fact that the
Nigerian authorities, through the
National Identity Management
Commission (NIMC), not only
provided biometrics of 170 million
Nigerians to a foreign commercial
company but also allowed them to
stamp its insignia, the MasterCard
symbol on the cards, which are
supposed to be a symbol of national
sovereignty and pride.
According to Premium Times,
Nigerians also recalled the leaked
facts of surveillance carried out by
National Security Agency of the US,
where MasterCard head office is
located.
One of the commentators said that
the Nigerians MasterCard’s emblem
on the card could be compared to
the trans-Atlantic slave trade
abolished in the 19th century.
Shehu Sani of the Civil Rights
Congress who criticized the new ID
cards , which are later to be given to
Nigerians from 16 years of age and
older, said:
“The new ID card with a
MasterCard logo does not
represent an identity of a Nigerian.
It simply represents a stamped
ownership of a Nigerian by an
American company. It is
reminiscent of the logo pasted on
the bodies of African slaves
transported across the Atlantic.”
The cards, which were supposed to
provide the Nigerians with numerous
benefits and conveniences, did not
bring the desired optimism, as a key
instrument recognised by the federal
constitution will host the logo of a
foreign private entity.
Lead Director of Centre for Social
Justice Eze Onyekpere was quoted
saying:
“Nigeria’s colours and coat of arms
is what should be there. As far as
we are concerned it cannot stand.
It is not worth it if that’s what
they have done.”
Apart from national issues, economic
and security implications came as
special concern for many Nigerians.
It was interpreted that all adult
Nigerians are forced to become
compulsory customers of MasterCard
by receiving their eIDs.
Regarding the security, the former
FCT minister Nasir El-Rufai said:
“Clearly, there are National
Security implication. All these data
go to the American payment
platform.”
As for the economic consequences,
the reader named Ola Onanugaola
said:
“Good idea but bad
implementation. Why do we have
to brand the e-ID card? Are these
people aware of the huge economic
and security implications of the
branding. “Any country population
database/information is too vital
to attached to any non-
governmental organisation.”

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s Wife Files For Divorce In London

After months of speculations over
the marriage crisis between the
founder of Christ Embassy Church
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his
wife Anita, a new report
resurfaced claiming the wife has
now filed for divorce in a London
court
In an exclusive report published by
The Cable News, the divorce
proceeding has entered its final
phase.

Anita is said to be seeking a divorce
on the grounds of “unreasonable
behavior”, “adultery” and several
other allegations which cannot be
published for legal reasons.
The suit number of the divorce case
is No FD14D01650, and it was filed
on April 9, 2014, at Divorce Section
A, Central Family Court, First Avenue
House, High Holborn, London, UK, on
Anita’s behalf by Attwaters Jameson
Hill Solicitors.
The decree nisi (in legal terms, is like
a yellow card in a football match
which is a precursor to a red card)
was served to Pastor Chris in his
hotel room during a recent visit to
the UK and the decree absolute,
which will effectively end the
marriage, is expected to be issued
soon.
Anita had wanted to go public with
the details of her allegations against
the husband but reached an informal
agreement to sheathe her sword in
the interest of the church.
According to an elder of the church,
the pastor has denied his wife’s
allegations of adultery blaming it on
the influence of ‘Bad friends’ who are
intent on destroying their home.

BH foreign negotiator names Alimodu Sheriff as Boko Haram sponsor

In a recent interview with Arise News TV,
Australian hostage negotiator, Stephen
Davis, who was hired by the Nigerian
government some months back to help
negotiate with Boko Haram members to
facilitate the release of abducted Chibok
girls, mentioned the name of former Borno
state Governor, Alimodu Sheriff as a
sponsor of the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
He also said that an unnamed past Chief of
Army Staff who was sacked by Pres.
Jonathan was also a sponsor of the group.
In the video released yesterday, Davis was
very quick to mention the names of the
alleged sponsors.
"The first thing to do.. go and arrest former
Governor, Sheriff. Former Borno Governor
Sheriff who has been funding this for years.
He hooks these guys up. He is so frightened
that he has switched party to the ruling
PDP in the hope that this would give him
protection. That guy has really got to go
and you know he is enormously corrupt."
Continue...
"Why the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission has not yet picked him up is
anybody's guess. There is a...the former
Chief of Army Staff retired in January but
was actually sacked by the President is
another sponsor. I would give you the
names if you like, I have no fear of this. We
are very confident and in fact Boko Haram
senior commanders who have been naming
them in the interactions I have had with
them over many months, confirming what
we knew sometime before from other
commanders" he said.
After the interview was released, former FCT
Minister, Mallam Nasir El Rufai took to his
facebook page to say that the unnamed
former army Chief is Lt. Gen Ihejirika rtd,
the immediate past Chief of Army staff.
Below is what El-Rufai posted on his
facebook page
" Australian hostage negotiator Stephen
Davis has just named Former Borno
Governor Ali Modu Sheriff and immediate
chief of army staff Lt-Gen Ihejirika
(removed in January 2014) as the Boko
Haram brains on ARISE NEWS. Davis said
Boko Haram commanders that he has been
negotiating with as the source of this
information. The kingpins not only finance
BH operations but select targets for
assassination and execution. Finally, the
truth about BH is coming out. Hopefully,
the murderers of General Muhammadu
Shuwa, the abductors of the Chibok girls,
those truly responsible for the Nyanya
bombings, and attempted assassination of
General Buhari and Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi
will be known. We hope the authorities will
take the steps necessary to act on this
revelation, and thereby discharge their duty
to protect us, the citizens of Nigeria. That is
just what it is, a hope!".
Reacting to the claims against him made by
El Rufai, Lt Gen Ihejirika who spoke with
Vanguard said he isn't surprised that the
allegation is coming from the former
minister who he said is the real sponsor of
Boko.
"The Commanders including El-Rufai know
where the problem is. He should stop
deceiving Nigerians by trying to divert
attention. When the Boko Haram operation
started, supporters of the sect like El Rufai
said that there was nothing like Boko
Haram and that the Army was just killing
innocent youths. If you also remember, not
too long ago, some of their supporters
including El-Rufai said that I was re-
inventing the killing of the Ibos during the
Biafra war following government's
determination to rid the country of
terrorism. The likes of El Rufai started the
campaign of human rights abuses in order
to divert international attention from the
heinous crime being committed by the Boko
Haram terrorist. The likes of El Rufai have
been supporting Boko Haram. Infact, El
Rufai and his likes are the same group of
people that ensured the army did not get
the requested equipment to deal with the
menace once and for all as they used their
cohorts to tell the government that
procuring modern equipment was
unnecessary. At the onset of this crisis, I
was the first person to declare that the
country was at war but a group of sponsors
led by El Rufai disagreed, saying that it was
not true. It is the same group of El-Rufai
that started the human rights abuses
campaign. It was done in order to block any
international assistance after the state of
emergency was declared and the sect was
initially tamed. That gave Boko Haram time
and respite to build up again" he said

Dozens killed as Cameroon troops shell Boko Haram camp inside Nigeria

Barely 48 hours after Cameroon army killed 27 Boko Haram militants during an attack in a locality near Fotokol in the country’s far-north, the army has again attacked the insurgents, shelling one of their camps across the border and killing “many” fighters, a security official said yesterday. The source, who spoke to AFP, said the army had shelled the camp on Wednesday evening, two days after the jihadist group had seized control of the town of Gamboru Ngala on the border with Cameroon. “It was tanks stationed on the frontier at Fotokol (on Cameroon’s side of the border) that shelled the camp on the other side,” the source said on condition of anonymity. “Seen from Fotokol this morning, Gamboru looks empty and smells of death,” he added. “Nobody knows how many Boko Haram members were killed, but it is obvious that many were.” The shelling was confirmed by a local police officer. “These were abandoned houses that they have occupied since they entered Gamboru. We think they still control the town, because there are many of them and they didn’t all gather in the same place,” he said.

'I never went to university' - billionaire Folorunsho Alakija admits

One of Africa's richest women and chairman of Famfa Oil, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija yesterday August 27th revealed that she never went to a university, saying one does not need a university education to make it in life. Mrs Alakija said this while speaking with students of the University of Lagos during the 2014 UN International Youths Day in Lagos. "I come from Ikorodu, Lagos state. I am married to a dashing young lawyer of 70 years of age and we have four grown up gentlemen and grandchildren. It has not been a rag to riches fairytale. It has not been an overnight phenomenon like some cases which you find here and there all over the world. For as long as I can remember, I had always wanted my own business. Hard work...am trying to tell you how I got to where I am if you want those billions. Hard work, diligence, persistence...days where you nearly gave up but I chose not to give up." Continue... It would have been easy to compromise but I chose not to and I stayed focus. I could have stayed a secretary as my father desired according to his plan for me but I had bigger aspirations. I dreamt big. God strengthened me and gave me wisdom. I had a passion and burning desire to succeed. Being a secretary, a banker, a fashion icon, a cooperate promoter and printer, a real estate owner, an oil magnate, that I can assure you was no easy feat. Firm belief that what is worth doing is what doing well or not doing at all. I took charge of my life with the tools I have shared with you. I chose to become born again at the age of 40. I chose to make a covenant with God that if he would bless me I would work for him all the days of my life. I chose to hold on to the cross and look up to him every step of the way. Today additional accomplishment includes a wife of almost 40 years, a mother, grandmother, ministry, counseling, outreach, NGO Rose of Sharon Foundation for widows and Author, writer, author of several inspirational books. All I say to the glory of God. So I am 63 and I am not yet done. So what is your excuse? I never went to a University and I am proud to say so because I don't think I have done too badly. You do not have to have a University education to be able to make it so count yourselves privileged to have that education as part of the feather in your cap" she said.

Photos: Meet the teenager with the longest neck in the world

Doctors say most necks have 7 vertebrae but 15 year old Chinese boy Fu Wengui (pictured above) has 10. As a young boy he was diagnosed with Congenital Scoliosis and an abnormal chest frame which made his neck grow extra three inches. This causes him a lot of pain and makes it hard for Fu to walk. Congenital scoliosis is caused by the bones in the spine developing abnormally in the womb. "He always causes a stir when he's out. The vertebrae press on the nerves in his neck and make it difficult for him to walk." his dad, Genyou said Fortunately for Fu, after his situation was made public, a Beijing-based charity agreed to finance a procedure and treatment. He will have corrective surgery that will hopefully reduce the length of his neck and ease the discomfort.

Google Glass

An update to the software that runs Glass gives users of Google's wearable computing device more control over their interactions with contacts.
The latest version of the software -- also known as version XE20.1 -- adds the flexibility to choose how to reach out to a contact after selecting the person from the contacts list.
"Now, when you tap on one of your contacts, you can swipe between Hangouts, email or SMS -- whichever strikes your fancy at that moment," explained Joel Kalmanowicz, a Glass product manager.
Users' entire phone address books are now available on Glass as well, he added, with a selection of 20 contacts accessible by voice and the rest by swipe.
The new app is already available for Android users; iOS users will see it arrive "in the next week or so," Kalmanowicz said.
In separate news, meanwhile, Google recently received a patent that suggests a new, less-conspicuous look might be in the works for Glass.
